More Pictures of Alaska

Sunday, August 9, 2009

I want to share more of Alaska with you. It's such a beautiful place, so enjoy the pictures below. I have included some background information about some of them, but others simply speak for themselves. Enjoy.

Below: Next 5 pictures were taken on the 10-hour train ride from Fairbanks to Wasilla.

Next two pictures below tell the truth: You CAN see Russia from Alaska.

Below: House where Sarah Palin lived while in high school--now a thrift shop

Below: Lynette's husband Tom shared his moose chili with me. The man can cook! Never got to play Sarah one-on-one for a shot at her moose chili, though!

Below: Next two pictures show a cloud of smoke from the fires raging in AK while I was there. These were taken on the way to Fairbanks to attend final Governor's Picnic.

Below: Rest of pictures share the pipeline with you.

“I can see Russia from my house,” can truly be said in Little Diomede, Alaska. Take a look for yourself by visiting our webcam."

The school district has a webcam in Alaska that can show Russia. You can control the cam. The fog often obscures Russia.

Take a look.

And of course, it was Tina Fey who said, "I can see Russia from my house," not Sarah Palin.
