Urgent Request:

Two orphanages have been airlifted out of Haiti into Colorado. This was absolutely necessary because, as you know, these children are without shelter, and the rain is coming. Another orphanage that my church works closely with, and travels to Haiti to help, has a plan in place if we can get these kids airlifted out also. That orphanage is called His Home for Children, and one of our families has been going through the process of adopting one of the kids for a long time now. He is the son they have been waiting to bring home for some time now. In the meantime, they have traveled back and forth to Haiti to visit him for a long time. We need to get him and the rest of these children out of Haiti before the pounding rain comes. The children would fly into Columbus, Ohio to a church where they would have food, shelter, and clothing. Those who already have families waiting to adopt them would be allowed to go with them, and host families would take the others. The plan is in place; we just need to be able to get them here to America.

Please help. Two things can bring the results we need.

1. It is my understanding that our representatives do have some pull in terms of helping to make this happen. I am asking that you contact your representatives and ask them to exercise whatever authority they have to help these children. The offices are closed today, but call and leave a message. For those in New York, our reps' voicemails are full, but instructions will be given on what to do next to contact them.

2. I also understand that the two orphanages that were airlifted were high profile ones who received media coverage, which allowed them to receive the attention needed. His Home for Children, with which my church is involved, also needs that care. If you have any media contacts, please, please reach out to them for the sake of these children as well. Many of these kids are sick and have special needs. They cannot be without shelter when the rain comes.

Below is the information that was sent to me. The contact information is for New York. You, however, should contact your own representative.

ASAP!!! There is an opportunity for the 115 kids at the orphanage in Haiti to be air-lifted to the United States! Please call and fax the numbers below and tell your senators to Bring His Home for Children run by Hal and Christ Nungesger to Ohio. They are working with International Child Care in Columbus Ohio to bring these kids here. The children are living in a Church yard at Quisqueya Chapel with no shelter, only have pop tarts and rain is coming. It is essential to get them out, ASAP! The families who were in the process of adopting are ready to take the children now, and they already have host families for those children who were not in the adoption process. They have a church to house the children until they can be placed. Please call and fax and tell everyone you know. Just repeat the information above and leave voicemails!Thank you

Senator Kirsten Gillibrand: 518-431-0120 FX: 518-431-0128

Senator Charles Schumer: 518-431-4070 Fx: 518-431-4076

So many of us have been wanting to help Haiti. Here's one way. Please call and ask for help to bring these kids to America where there are already families and the faith-based community waiting to help.

Thank you for taking this seriously.
