Today is the Georgia state Primary, the day Peach State residents will make their voices heard about who they want as their new governor. UPDATE: Politico reports that Karen Handel is leading Republican opponent, Nathan Deal, 30-26% in the Georgia Governor Primary with 24% of precincts reporting. Handel was endorsed by Governor Palin, while Newt Gingrich, who announced recently that he is considering running for president in 2012, endorsed Deal. Final results to come.
UPDATE 2: Click on the Politico link above to follow the results.
UPDATE 3: With 97% of precincts having reported, Politico announces a runoff between Handel and Deal, as Handel secured 34% of the vote and Deal, 23%. The runoff will take place August 10th. It's looking pretty good for Governor Palin's endorsee.
