I Waved 2010 Goodbye--Twice; My New Year's Eve Pictures

Saturday, January 1, 2011

I spent New Year's Eve with some friends playing games, eating tasty foods, acting silly, and dancing. Just like last year, the festivities took place at Kia's house. You can see last year's pictures here.

The game you see us playing in the pictures below is "Catch Phrase." I love this game--and I hate losing! Anyone who knows me knows how competitive I am. It's all about the 'W' with me! Things didn't work out so well for me last night, though. It's all good, though. Nay and I made a valiant comeback, but we fell short to Kia and Carthette who took the prize. We got this next time!

As midnight approached, Kia shared what the Lord put on her heart for 2011, and we prayed the new year in. Kia says "restoration" is the word for this year, that God will both restore and do a new thing. She also discussed how as people of faith we must remember the life of Job. We must be willing to worship through the ups and the downs, and we must declare from our hearts, in every situation, "Blessed be the name of the Lord."

After entering 2011, we danced our lively "shouting" dances some more before calling it a night. I captured several pictures of the night and thought I'd share them with you.

I went home and Skyped in the new year with my friend, Kristi. See, Kristi lives in Missouri; therefore, she was still in 2010 even after New York had entered 2011. So I was doubly blessed: not only did I get to start another year with great friends here, I got to walk across the threshold of another year with my lil sis and prayer partner who is 19 hours away. Technology is amazing!

Enjoy the pictures...

Happy New Year, everyone. May you become aware this year, more than ever before, that the Lord is your everything.

Adrienne, lovely post. Looks and sounds like you had a great beginning to 2011. I love the idea of "restoration" being the word and concept for this new year; America needs it and millions and millions of Americans need it, including myself, in becoming ever closer and more devoted to God. Thanks for sharing this with us, and God bless you in 2011.
