I totally understand Governor Palin's enemies, those infected with Palin Derangement Syndrome. Believe me, I get it. If I subscribed to their worldview and political philosophy, I might behave the same way they do. So who can blame them, these souls who have made it their life's purpose to denigrate, devalue, and demonize Governor Palin and anyone associated with her? What else are they to do?

Often, I look to sports to teach life-lessons. Politics and sports have much in common. In fact, politics is often referred to as a sport of sorts--a blood sport, that is--and it gets bloodier and bloodier with each passing day. No one understands this better than Governor Palin, who has, metaphorically speaking, been mauled and manhandled since stepping onto the national court in 2008--and continues to emerge victorious.

Having been both a basketball player and coach, I know what it is to prepare to face a team that has a player whose skills run too deep to stop. Under these circumstances, the best one can hope for is to contain or limit this person. I know the relief that comes when this player goes to the bench for a breather. We, the opposing team, also breathe a little easier during that time, but we're always mindful that this reprieve is but temporary. Players who demand such attention create desperation in the opposition. Even professional coaches have faced consequences and repercussions for ordering players to "take out" a star player, "hurt her," "make him pay," "leave a mark." Such "do whatever it takes" tactics are deplorable, but desperate people do desperate things. So it is with politics, and it is especially so with Governor Palin.

When she is quiet, they exult. Their delusion tells them she is done, gone for good, no longer a threat capable of dictating tempo. But like all players who recognize their role on the team, she always checks back in. And when she does, the haters are beside themselves and find the need to tell themselves--and everyone else--just how "irrelevant" she is. Mind you, they say so while tracking her every move, noting her every word, and studying her every pattern. While they repeatedly chirp that she's irrelevant, their actions betray those words, like playing a box and one defense against a team that has no predominant offensive threat, or double-teaming an average player, in an effort to stop her. It just doesn't make sense. Furthermore, Governor Palin, unlike anyone we have ever seen, cannot be stopped. She cannot even be contained. She operates on her own terms, and nothing gets to her.

Their most recent attempt came upon the revelation that she was not renewing her contract with FOX News. The problem with those who want to believe, despite all evidence to the contrary, that the Governor was dumped by the network, is they are in denial of a basic truth: FOX or no FOX, the Governor has a voice. When she uses that voice, everyone listens and then talks about what they heard. If she chooses to take a breather and speak very little, or not at all, for a time, she can do that. When she checks back in, they're there. In fact, they've been looking over their shoulders all along, afraid she'll reemerge at any time. You see, she remains on their minds even when not in their sight. When she does reemerge, they raise their level of attack. Their accusations become more acrimonious, their insults are more insidious, and their deeds even dirtier.

Nonetheless, she does not budge. Instead, she reminds us that she hasn't even begun to fight. It is in this that she reveals herself to be head and shoulders above all others. She simply cannot be defeated.

And this is why they hate her so much more today than they did yesterday, more yesterday than the day before. They simply don't understand how no matter the defense or offense they employ, no matter the tactics they attempt, she will not go away. She perseveres--and she does it her way. I understand that for the self-appointed Palin enemy, that has got to be maddening! Just look at their plight. Their entire game plan doesn't work. Their lies don't work. Their "IRRELEVANT" cries don't work. Nothing they do works. Hatred is their only comfort object, and it's not enough to pacify them--because she doesn't care! Unfortunately for them, they are not smart enough to embrace the only thing that might help soothe their pain, the old adage, "If you can't beat 'em, join 'em." Instead, they continue to try to beat her, and in so doing they continue to beat their own heads against the wall in this blood sport called politics.

Governor Palin loves this country and is not afraid to fight for it. She may not have every aspect planned out yet or know all that she'll have to face in the battle, but I have no doubt she'll outlast the opposition. To those who are inclined not to believe in the certainty of that triumphant endurance, I'll let the Governor do the talking: "We delight in those who underestimate us."

Yesterday, news emerged that Governor Palin opted not to renew her contract with FOX News. Today, Breitbart released an exclusive interview with her about her future. Stephen Bannon, the recipient of that honor, wrote:

1. What's next for you?

Short term: I encourage others to step out in faith, jump out of the comfort zone, and broaden our reach as believers in American exceptionalism. That means broadening our audience. I’m taking my own advice here as I free up opportunities to share more broadly the message of the beauty of freedom and the imperative of defending our republic and restoring this most exceptional nation. We can't just preach to the choir; the message of liberty and true hope must be understood by a larger audience.

Focus on the 2014 election is also imperative. It’s going to be like 2010, but this time around we need to shake up the GOP machine that tries to orchestrate away too much of the will of constitutional conservatives who don’t give a hoot how they do it in DC. DC is out of touch, obviously. Voices on the right like Mark Levin, Rush, and the writers here at Breitbart have come out strongly against the “go along to get along” politicians who wave the white flag before the battle even begins. We’re not going to be able to advance the cause of limited constitutional government unless we deal with these big government enablers on our side. And this all ties into the problem of crony capitalism and the permanent political class in the Beltway. We need to consistently take them on election after election – ever vigilant.

As far as long-term plans, the door is wide open. I know the country needs more truth-telling in the media, and I’m willing to do that. So, we shall see. And always in the center of it all I have an awesome, full, exciting, and large family living in a very unique part of America that keeps me hopping! I love it!

2. Where do you think the country stands at the beginning of the President's 2nd term?


Predicting the future has never been easier because here we are! Already we see higher taxes, a stagnant economy, the same inflationary monetary policies, Obamacare looming like a dark cloud over small businesses, yet another demand for “debt ceiling” increases, continued stonewalling about the tragic Benghazi attacks, a Secretary of Defense nominee who has a history of being antagonistic to our ally Israel, and the attack on our Second Amendment rights by an administration that has no respect for the Constitution or the separation of powers.

The problem is that some on the Right are now skittish because of the lost 2012 election. They shouldn’t be. Conservatism didn’t lose. A moderate Republican candidate lost after he was perceived to alienate working class Reagan Democrat and Independent voters who didn’t turn out for him as much as they did for the McCain/Palin ticket in 2008. Granted, those same voters also didn’t turn out for Obama as strongly either. We had an election defined by a biased media plus millions of voters who sat it out in disgust. As long as we allow the media and GOP establishment to tell us who our nominees must be, we can expect to lose. I’m not interested in losing. America’s next generation can’t afford another loss.

3. The MSM have declared both you and the Tea Party dead and buried. Reaction?

I was raised to never retreat and to pick battles wisely, and all in due season. When it comes to defending our republic, we haven’t begun to fight! But we delight in those who underestimate us.

Governor Palin has made the decision not to renew her contract with the FOX News Channel. One thing we know about her is she weighs her options very carefully and makes decisions through much prayer. Therefore, I look forward to the new chapters that await her.

Real Clear Politics reports:

After a three-year run as a paid contributor to the nation’s highest-rated cable news channel, Sarah Palin and FOX News have cut ties, according to a source close to the former Alaska governor.

“It’s my understanding that Gov. Palin was offered a contract by FOX, and she decided not to renew the arrangement,” the source close to Palin told RCP. “She remains focused on broadening her message of common-sense conservatism across the country and will be expanding her voice in the national discussion.”

According to The Washington Post:
Sarah Palin has cut ties with Fox News Channel, ending an association with the cable network that had provided the most visible forum for her conservative views.


We have thoroughly enjoyed our association with Gov. Palin,” said Bill Shine, Fox News’ executive vice president of programming, in a statement. “We wish her the best in her future endeavors.”

Tony Lee of Breitbart writes:
A source close to Palin confirmed to Breitbart News that Palin declined FOX News' offer to renew her contract, and the two parties seem to be parting amicably.


She made her announcement that she was not going run for president, though, on Mark Levin's show. She also made an impromptu appearance on CNN during the network's Republican primary coverage. Like she did at the Iowa State Fair in 2011, Palin impressed reporters with her impromptu interviews. However, because of her FOX News contract, Palin could not go on other cable and mainstream media networks to discuss politics, policy, and cultural issues. Now, she will able to talk on other networks besides FOX News.

Palin--since she now does not have a television contract--will also be free run for the GOP presidential nomination in 2016 if she so chooses.

Governor Palin continues to celebrate life. She posted on Facebook:

Three cheers for Owen Groesser, an eighth grader with Down Syndrome who became an overnight social media star after he sunk two 3-pointers for his junior high basketball team in Rochester, Michigan. Thanks to his social media fans using the hashtag #GetOwenOnSportsCenter, he made it on ESPN SportsCenter's Top 10 Plays.

This is such a beautiful reminder of what gifts from God these children really are. Too often they're not given a chance because of fear -- fear of the unknown, as any shocked parent feels--myself included--when hearing the diagnosis. But giving life a chance in these perceived less than ideal circumstances can turn out to be the greatest gift and blessing any family may ever know. Just give life a chance and see how beautiful it is. Today's world needs more of this!

Governor Palin's respect for the value and dignity of life is something she both speaks passionately about and lives out daily. She does indeed walk the walk that she talks. And she will reportedly speak about these things at an important event in April as the "Terri's Day" honored speaker, which will be held in memory of Terri Schiavo.

The Terri Schiavo Life & Hope Network reports:
This year's Terri's Day Memorial Mass will be held on Friday, April 5, 2013 at the Cathedral Basilica of Saints Peter and Paul located at 18th Street & Benjamin Franklin Parkway, Philadelphia, PA 19103.

The mass will be celebrated by Archbishop Charles Chaput, Archbishop of the Diocese of Philadelphia, beginning at 5:00 p.m. All are invited to attend.

Following the Memorial Mass, there will be the Terri Schiavo Life & Hope Network's Award Gala, currently scheduled to begin at 6:30 p.m. with a cocktail reception. Governor Palin: Roe v. Wade and President Obama's Hypocrisy

Today is the saddest of anniversaries, the 40th anniversary of the Roe v. Wade decision to legalize abortion. Governor Palin once again has demonstrated an unapologetic respect for life, posting the following on Facebook:

Forty years ago today the Supreme Court rendered its Roe v. Wade decision. Those who believe in the sanctity of human life and long to see America embrace a culture in which innocent life is honored and protected continue to look for a day when humanity is again deemed valuable, where we cherish even those who would be born in "less than ideal circumstances." Children are our most precious resource and remain the greatest symbol of hope God has given us. This is just one reason why the annual March for Life has been such a powerful aspect of the pro-life movement. This year’s event is Friday, January 25th, and once again a multitude of Americans will gather in Washington, D.C. to show their support for precious little ones.

Our Founding Fathers declared: “We hold these truths to be self-evident, that all men are created equal, that they are endowed by their Creator with certain unalienable rights, that among these are Life, Liberty, and the pursuit of Happiness.” However, since 1973, millions of children have been denied the basic right upon which all the others hinge: the right to life.

Lately, President Obama has taken to boldly highlighting children in his speeches. Using kids as the backdrop for his gun control speech, the President claimed his commitment to young ones. "If there's even one life that can be saved, then we've got an obligation to try,” he said. He then outlined why gutting our Second Amendment is the means by which he believes we accomplish this. Every law-abiding citizen’s heart is broken when children are the target of men hell-bent on committing acts of evil, and we agree that the safety and protection of innocent life is paramount.

The hypocrisy of it all, however, is that while the President publicly acknowledges the value of “even one life” when it advances his own political agenda, he fails to acknowledge as much when it comes to protecting the lives of children soon to be born. In that same speech, he proclaimed that “when it comes to protecting the most vulnerable among us, we must act now.” Well, who is more vulnerable than those who find themselves at the mercy of others to honor their existence and receive them into our world? Are these—the truly vulnerable—not worthy of the protection of which the President speaks? Why is it that their cause is never the subject of one of his lofty addresses to the nation? Has he ever even mentioned the March for Life that takes place in his own back yard and ought to be worthy of at least a scant mention? If indeed we have an obligation to save “even one life,” when will we hear our President rally Americans to stand alongside women who find themselves in these less than ideal circumstances to offer the support they need, to encourage parents to choose life, and to promote the option of adoption? Instead, he has committed himself to the most liberal of abortion agendas—so much so that as a Senator he couldn't even bring himself to support the Born Alive Act that would save the lives of babies ALREADY BORN and needing medical aid. Further, he believes taxpayers should betray their consciences by paying for his abortion agenda. This same President has stated he didn’t want his daughters “punished with a baby,” and remarked that it was “above my pay grade” to answer a pastor's question: “At what point does a baby get human rights?” Yet now we are to somehow believe that children are the priority in his current aggressive campaign against the Second Amendment?

The President continued to herald his support of children in yesterday’s inaugural speech. “Our journey is not complete until all our children, from the streets of Detroit, to the hills of Appalachia, to the quiet lanes of Newtown, know that they are cared for, and cherished, and always safe from harm,” he said—and I agree. Nor is our journey complete, I would add, until all our children soon to be born are also “cared for, and cherished, and always safe from harm.” The President, of course, did not include this, as it does not line up with his worldview or his party’s platform. See, his commitment to our children is selective. When children in the womb are on the chopping block, the President is silent. When he places the Second Amendment, however, on the chopping block, children are his focus. Never mind the fact that his latest proposals would not protect them from evildoers and would, in fact, leave responsible, law-abiding citizens less able to protect them as well.

Clearly, there is no shortage of hypocrisy coming out of Washington, and this is just one example. Americans can expect to be inundated with rhetoric and doublespeak for the duration of this administration. It is truly Orwellian. So it is absolutely imperative that we keep our eyes and ears open; don't allow yourselves to be sucked in or lulled to sleep. Our freedoms are being compromised, our common sense insulted, and our children exploited. We must be vigilant and engaged, and we must remain hopeful that a better day is coming.

Today Americans honor the life and legacy of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. It's been 30 years since President Reagan signed this holiday into law in 1983, followed by its celebration three years later. We continue to look to Dr. King’s teachings which show us that our efforts—though seemingly futile at times—really do matter, that one person’s faith in something greater than self can lift all mankind, and that character alone should be the means whereby a person is measured, rather than the external things on which our society fixates.

This year marks 50 years since Martin Luther King stood before the Lincoln Memorial to proclaim his dream and remind the world that 100 years had passed since President Lincoln signed the Emancipation Proclamation. Now, 150 years after that historic signing, Americans still stand with both these men, ever committed to the freedoms that they worked to secure. They dedicated their lives for freedom, including freedom from stifling, overbearing governments. We will not squander what their efforts have wrought, we will not take for granted the blood that has been shed, and we will not fail to do our part to help preserve the freedoms that are uniquely American. In Dr. King’s own words, “Let freedom ring!” So, to these freedoms we cling so that future generations may know and love the America that those before us so sacrificially gave.

I encourage you to take time to reflect on Dr. Martin Luther King’s efforts to secure freedom and true equality and what those efforts have added to our lives today.

Happy Martin Luther King, Jr. Day! Today, all of America celebrates the man who worked so hard to help bring about the changes that we each enjoy now. He believed that this country was capable of living out "the true meaning of its creed," and he was willing to put everything on the line--his own life--to make that a reality.

I remember when, as a high school student, Dr. King's birthday became a holiday. Shortly thereafter, several entertainers came together to create a video in honor of the historic occasion. I showed this video to some of my classes Friday. Enjoy the flashback.

A high-speed chase grabs people's attention like almost nothing else. The adventure, the wonder, the sheer in-your-face speed pull people to the edge of their seats. They don't want to miss a second of the pursuit. It's one of the main reasons people tune in to cop shows. They hope to see such a situation and long to see where it will end up. The desperation on the part of both the chaser and the chased is palpable and, therefore, invigorating.

As fascinating as it may be to watch one person trying to outrun or outdrive another, you know what's even more fascinating? There's nothing like the experience of chasing someone who actually wants to be caught. This is what transpires in the lives of those who have made Christ the object of their attention and devotion--their pursuit. Longing to be in His presence creates a determination to go after Him, to seek His face, to gravitate to His Word. This is the application of the Lord's declaration that we will find Him when we search for Him with all our hearts. The awesome thing about God, though, is that, unlike the criminal trying desperately to avoid being caught by the police, God is standing there waving His arms, saying, "Hello! I'm right here. Come and get Me!" Jesus' sacrifice has granted us complete and total access to God. We can have as much of Him as we desire.

I am in hot pursuit of a deeper relationship with the Lord, and I hope you'll join me. After all, He longs for us to catch Him!

Tonight, I was reminded of--and encouraged by--the healing power of Jesus as I read the passage of Scripture in Acts 3 below. What is it you're currently in need of? Whether it's physical, spiritual, financial, or otherwise, the Lord has the power to heal, deliver, and set free. He is gracious to those who have made Him Lord and who call upon Him out of a pure heart. He's just good like that!

This Scripture deals with physical healing, something we often struggle to believe God both can and wants to do. God has no limitations, however, so let's take the limits off of Him that we've applied out of our own resistance to Who He is and what He can do, out of our own doubt, fear, and unbelief. No more of that! Instead, ask yourself what you're willing to believe Him for because surely He will meet you there. Ask yourself the question He Himself asked Abraham in Genesis 18:14: "Is any thing too hard for the Lord?" The answer, of course, is a resounding, "NO!"

Acts 3:1-16

1 Now Peter and John went up together into the temple at the hour of prayer, being the ninth hour.

2 And a certain man lame from his mother's womb was carried, whom they laid daily at the gate of the temple which is called Beautiful, to ask alms of them that entered into the temple;

3 Who seeing Peter and John about to go into the temple asked an alms.

4 And Peter, fastening his eyes upon him with John, said, Look on us.

5 And he gave heed unto them, expecting to receive something of them.

The start of a new year is always one of the most exciting times for people. It comes with self-reflection and great expectations. For some, it involves making resolutions (and often breaking them rather quickly :).

For me, the start of a new year always involves drawing away from the things of the world and drawing closer to God--seeking His face and direction. I believe that 2013 is a time of revelation, clarity, and the grace of God in operation. Already, I have seen God answer prayers and move mountains. Yes, already! For this, I am so very grateful.

I want more of Him and less of me. I need more of Him and less of me. I expect more of Him and less of me. Actually, all of Him and none of me would be ideal. I don't want this consecration to be a part-time affair in my life, however, and too often it has been. I'm not saying I have walked away from Him. I'm saying it's so easy to become distracted and coast rather than press into His presence. I want daily, moment-by-moment, second-by-second intimacy with my God. That's what He desires for all of us, and that's what I was created for--to know Him as I am known by Him. Anything less is simply not good enough.

Happy New Year, everyone! I'm believing that 2013 will be a year of revelation and clarity. What are you believing God for?

Governor Palin offered the following New Year message, via Facebook:

Best wishes to everyone for a happy New Year! In the coming days there will be a great deal of debate about the goings-on in the political arena and the shenanigans in Washington. Constitutional commonsense conservatives must stay engaged and hold our “leaders” accountable to the voice of average everyday hard working Americans or we will very soon become an enslaved, bankrupt former nation of greatness. So, please keep the faith heading into this new year. And for now, remember to be grateful for the blessings and opportunities God has given us as independent individuals, as caring members of families, as honorable businesses and communities, and as countrymen who understand this most exceptional nation’s foundations of strength. We’ve been given all this for yet another year; let’s not take it for granted. In this new year, as jobs change with doors closing and opening, kids growing, relationships evolving, and life throwing curveballs, may you resolve to stay engaged and optimistic. May you pick your battles wisely. And may you live life vibrantly! God bless you all and God bless our great country as we promise to live out 2 Chronicles 7:14. Here’s to liberty!
