Today, we join our hearts with Auschwitz survivors and Israeli lawmakers who spent International Holocaust Remembrance Day at Auschwitz-Birkenau Memorial. This day marks the 69th anniversary of the liberation of the Nazi death camp and serves as a sobering reminder that freedom is worth defending and innocent human life worth protecting.
We will never forget the tragedy of the Holocaust. The millions who were murdered deserve that we remember and honor them. And if we are to truly show them honor, we must show ourselves willing to fight for a better future. In this, we assure that those whose lives were so ruthlessly taken did not die in vain.
We may each have a different role to play in this fight, but whatever it is you feel is your role, commit yourself to it. By so doing--in fulfilling your purpose--you will make sure that you have not lived in vain.
