Starting Ceremonies for Iron Dog 2014

It's that time of year again--the Iron Dog, the world's longest, toughest snowmachine race. The racers hit the snowy trail on Sunday, February 16th. Todd Palin is a 4-time champion, and Governor Palin posted the following on Facebook before the race's start:
Starting ceremonies for the Iron Dog! These pre-race events are held atop frozen Big Lake. Structures are built; all our trucks and trailers are parked; fans, tourists, and racers are all walking on frozen water. We’re takings lots of pics at the starting line because the 2000 mile race is so fast and furious across Alaska that it's rare to get good shots of racers in action on the rugged route. So, snap pics at the starting line while things are rowdy but relatively sane!
